At the beginning of your project, we assign a Metropolitan Shuttle HQ project manager, who will work with you to create your transportation plan. This person will also work as your main point of contact throughout the project. A local project manager is assigned to oversee the project on a daily basis. Thorough Vehicle Maintenance
We only utilize vehicles that are clean, comfortable and reliable. Here’s a look at the typical procedures we put each bus through before sending it out for customer use:
Daily Inspection & Prep:
Driver performed pre-trip safety inspection that includes gauges/warning lights, brake system tests, parking/emergency brake, horn, headlamps, hazard lights, stop lights, tail lights, clearance lights, marker lights, turn signals, license lamp, doors, windshield, wipers/washer fluid, windows, steering wheel play, wheels/lugs/nuts, tires/tread/inflation, hubcaps, exhaust system, defrost/defogger, flares/triangles, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, emergency exits, mirrors, fluid leaks, unusual noises, interior lights, interior condition, driver’s seat and seat belt.
Pre-trip cleanliness/appearance inspection includes:
- Vehicle exterior, interior, windows and floor
- Vehicle documents- permits, insurance, registration & trip sheets
- Vehicle heat and/or air conditioning system working?
Post-trip inspection includes:
- Check for lost/forgotten items
- Trash removal
- Damage check
Periodic Care
- Full interior and exterior cleaning (typically every weekend, in addition to the daily sweeping& spot cleaning)
- Biweekly maintenance check including coolant check, oil check and various system checks
- Quarterly preventive maintenance check consisting of:
– exterior walk around (lighting devices & reflectors, fuel tank filter caps, fuel tank mounting & straps,lube door latches, etc.)
– tires & wheels (nuts & studs, wheel locks, axle flange nuts& gaskets, tread depth & air pressure)
– upper chassis engine cooling & electrical(cab mechanism, cooling system, hydraulic brake fluid level, fan hub bearings & brackets, water pump, belts, air compressor, alternator/starter, engine compartment wiring, exhaust system, air cleaner ducting, batteries, throttle and linkage, steering column, and fluids)
– under chassis and lubrication (front axle assembly, front axle brake components, axle springs, pins etc., shocks, pitman arm, ball & socket joints, transmission oil level, transmission mainshaft rear bearing, parking brake components, rear brake adjustments, differential pinion bearing, torque, radius or tracking arms of rear suspension, differential oil level, axle breather vents, clutch brake, etc.
– engine service (drain crankcase, change all oil and fuel filters, refill crankcase, paint drain and fill plugs, recheck oil level with engine off, apply P.M sticker, verify mileage, valid DOT decal).
