Transportation in and Around Cincinnati
Getting in and out of Cincinnati by air is generally fast and easy, with the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport only fifteen minutes from downtown.
Land travel in and out of Cincinnati is served by Amtrak’s Cardinal line, which runs through Cincinnati Union Terminal to and from Chicago and New York. A streetcar line is currently under construction in downtown Cincinnati. Driving in Cincinnati is not considered as challenging as other major metropolitan areas, with well-designed streets and beautiful panoramic views along Interstate 71/75. Outside of the downtown grid, navigation around Cincinnati can become trickier.
In terms of public transit, Cincinnati has a network of forty-foot diesel buses, served by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA), operating mostly throughout the downtown area. The Metro buses operate from 4 am to 1:30 am, seven days a week. Charter buses are also available from Metropolitan Shuttle, for easy transportation anywhere in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is also a very walkable city. Visitors looking to travel on foot can walk across the Ohio River on the Purple People or Roebling Suspension bridges, and there are many waterfront shops and restaurants in the area, as well as nearby attractions like Smale Riverfront Park, Yard House, and The Banks.
