Charter bus options in Fresno, California
At 520,000 people, Fresno is the fifth most populated city in California. Named after the ash trees that line the nearby San Joaquin River, Fresno was once little more than a railway station. It has since become a center of agriculture, commerce, and tourism. Because Fresno is near to both Yosemite National Park and Kings Canyon National Park, many travelers stop here along the way — but there’s plenty to see and do in the city itself, and if you need a bus rental in Fresno, Metropolitan Shuttle is here to make things easy.
Fresno offers a thriving theatre scene. Those looking to slake their thirst for the arts can find the Fresno Grand Opera, Fresno Philharmonic, the Youth Orchestras of Fresno, the Woodward Shakespeare Festival, and more. Fresno also hosts many annual events, such as the ArtHop, the Big Fresno Fair in October, the Central California Taco Truck Throwdown, the Fall Wine Cornucopia in April, and the Fresno Greek Fest in August.
Here are some other things to see and do while in Fresno:
Forestiere Underground Gardens
The creation of Baldasare Forestiere, this underground abode was created over a period of 40 years. Originally created as Baldasare’s underground home, it contains three levels with a bedroom, bath, kitchen, fish pond, and several grottoes and courtyards to let in sunlight. The plants and trees inside include citrus fruits and berries. The Forestiere Underground Gardens are a California historical landmark.
Fresno Chaffee Zoo
Book a shuttle bus rental in Fresno and check out the wildlife! A 39-acre zoo inside Roeding Park, the Fresno Chaffee Zoo attracts almost a million guests per year. Animals on display include red kangaroos, emus, lions, African elephants, rhinos, hippos, gorillas, and more. The reptile house features a King Cobra and Komodo Dragon exhibit, and “Sea Lion Cove” allows visitors to check out sea lions, pelicans, and river otters.
Woodward Regional Park
The largest of three parks around Fresno, Woodward Park is where the Woodward Shakespeare Festival is held. The park is also home to the Shinzen Friendship Garden, a Japanese stroll garden which opened in 1981. The Friendship Garden was built in honor of Fresno’s sister city (Kochi, Japan) and features over a hundred bonsai specimens and a traditional teahouse built by Japanese carpenters.
Meux Home Museum
A two-story Victorian house appearing on the National Register of Historic Places, the Meux Home Museum was once home to Dr. Meux, a Confederate surgeon who served in the Civil War. The museum seeks to capture the flavor of “Victorian Fresno” with period furnishings and guided one-hour tours of the restored house.
Legion of Valor Military Museum
Established in 1991, the Legion of Valor Veterans Museum features military memorabilia, photographs, and artifacts. The Legion of Valor is a chartered corporation open to members of recipients of the Medal of Honor, the Navy Cross, the Air Force Cross, and the Distinguished Service Cross. Admission is free.
